Material handling to W3 means: How do we handle the user's dirty product(s) through the cleaning systems and present a clean product at the exit? This can be an individual product, nested products, continuous (such as wire) or a random array. While the cleaning process to clean any of the parts can be the same, the handling is entirely different based on how the userís manufacturing steps.

Small parts that can be contained in baskets or carriers and transported as a nested batch. Part geometry and surface specifications dictate whether parts can remain loose or must be clamped and whether rotation is an option.
Or small parts can also be processed individually through a continuous cleaning system, typically feed from an upstream manufacturing process or bulk loading unit.
Individual piece parts can be fixtured or contained in a basket carrier or set individually on a belt or conveyor.

Minimal handling of parts can be accomplished with additional features to the above systems like return conveyors for baskets and parts. Even more minimal is use of SCMS systems which are single load/unload station systems with all process stages taking place within the machine. These are ideally suited for cellular manufacturing operations.
